Three generations, one rule

Cousins Fred Kirshy and Louie Hallal learned the trade in Italian restaurants and diners around Pawtucket, Rhode Island through the 1950s and '60s. In 1970 they struck out on their own and opened Luigi's in Brooksville, in a closet-sized spot between Publix and Hogan's Drug Store. Pizza and sandwiches, and not much else.

It was hard going. They stuck with it, on a business philosophy that fit in three words.
